Ladies Malaga Mixtape by Nina

Check out the Women’s BMX Mixtape from the Malaga Vans Pro Cup by multitasking Nina Buitrago! “This is a rough two part edit I put together for the ladies of BMX and our time in Malaga, Spain at the Vans BMX Pro Cup May 5-7th, 2017. All footage was shot on iPhone 7 or a GoPro of some sort. The first part is highlights of each of us from both the regional qualifiers and women’s demo at the Skatepark of Malaga, and the second part is a little spot mission a group of us went on immediately after we rode in our demo. 15 year old Hannah Roberts made history at this spot becoming the first female to do a barspin AND tailwhip the legendary hook spot.” Support events that support the ladies.

T-1 Train Trip Re-up

Joe posted a Ruben shot from this trip a few days ago, but I never need much of an excuse to post this video - I could watch it every week and never grow bored of it. “Six weeks, 1 regular sized back pack for each of the 2 of us, 1 super 8mm camera, 1 DV video camera, 1 35mm film photo camera, 2 bmx bikes, $400 in train tickets each = 1 amazing adventure. We had the most basic of plans . . . Leave Malaga, Spain by train, and arrive in Prague (Czech Republic) six weeks later. No day was ever mapped out before hand. We’d take a train to a new city, leave the station upon arrival, and see what we could get into. Some cities we stayed for days, others just over night. ‘Chance’ and ‘Wonder’ were our co-pilots. Exploration and adventure go hand in hand, add in our loose schedule and we had ourselves one amazing journey . . . . It was put out along with an Etnies Road Trip video that came with Dig issue number 52. Because it was being burned on a hard copy, I had to use different music for the second half of the Train Trip. This was the music I originally edited it with. This played all last year (2009) on the Bicycle Film Festival Tour around the world. I’ve gotten a number of requests to put this up online. So here it is. Enjoy!” Follow @t1ers

World Tour Memories

From Joe… “This past trip to Spain really has me walking back down memory lane. Wandering the streets of Malaga floored me with waves of so many memories. Both with places I was actually walking past, as well as the countless good times I have had visiting Spain in general. Bilbao, in the north, has always been one of my favorite places since my first time there. Ruben and I would go to the same coffee shop most every day because they told us their coffee was the best because their coffee grinder had stainless steel blades. ( whoops, I meant Titanium) We were sold on it being the best place in town. Ha ha, it never took much convincing with us. Needless to say, we would walk/ride past these bricks just about every day during our visit there. One day I actually brought my camera, and put in a request for Ruben. I think we took 2 tries with this photo and carried on to coffee. It would be another month or 2 before I ever knew if the picture came out. Good ol’ Fuji Neopan film certainly delivered. Many thanks to Bilbao, Aitor and Ruben for the memories. Bilbao, Spain 2003 / T-1 World Tour”. Follow @t1ers

Iceman Road Trucker

From Joe… “Flying back from Malaga the other day, I received a message from Isaac in the airport. That turned into many more messages back and forth as we were exchanging all things good about the bowl event that went down the other week at Ruben’s park. The ‘roast meters’ at the comp were at an all time high, as this was the kind of stuff Isaac and I would always talk about and get stoked on. I couldn’t help but think how much I would love to see him ride Ruben’s bowl. It would be a sight to see to say the least, but would put you on the edge of your seat the entire time. I’ve never met anyone like Isaac, and I’ve certainly never come across that has run his life as wide open as he has. Always pushing himself to the absolute limit while crossing that line from time to time as well. Almost as if to see if there is a line at all . . . I’m definitely saving a session for you my friend. This was a pic I shot of Isaac mid work day in Chicago in 2007.” Follow @t1ers
